 Royal Adelaide Show

Adelaide Showgrounds, Goodwood

7-15 September 2007

The Royal Adelaide Show is South Australia's biggest annual event run by the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia. Experiences run the whole gamut from carnival rides, exhibitions and attractions to exquisite handicraft, cookery and wide variety of champion livestock and animals. It is at the Show that rural South Australia and City business alike can showcase their best produce, wares and services.

The Royal Adelaide Show is the 'people's event' and truly offers something for everyone, such as food and wine tastings; entertainment with bands, dancing, comedy acrobatic; exhibitions and displays; fashion parades; competitions; animals (livestock and pets); farmyard nursery and animal petting area.

Vintage cars at Buxton Manor in North Adelaide prepare for the Birdwood runThis RAA supported event is the largest motoring event in the Southern Hemisphere. The event is run over two weeks and culminates in the fabulous Bay to Birdwood run departing from Adelaide's seaside and culminating at The National motor museum at Birdwood. Around 2000 vintage and veteran vehicles participate in this event which celebrates the history and culture of the motor vehicle in South Australia

Australasian Masters Games

The Australasian Masters Games return to Adelaide in 2007 now incorporating the Australasian Masters Games. That's right! Australia's largest multisport festival just got bigger, taking it to the international stage. 2007 Australasian Masters Games, Adelaide, South Australia

The Games are a biennial multisport festival providing an opportunity for people over the age of 30 years to participate in the sport(s) of their choice regardless of background or ability.

Adelaide will again attract over 10,000 participants, who will take part in more than 50 team and individual sports over the ten day period. While the competition is important one of the key attractions of the Games is the social interaction and spirit of camaraderie experienced by participants.

Credit Union Christmas Pageant

Established in 1933, the Credit Union Christmas pageant has grown into  one of the largest pageants of its kind in the world, boasting 57 festive and fairytale floats, 15 bands, 15 walking sets and more than 1600 costumed characters. Over 2000 people are in the parade with another 700 behind the scenes. More than 320,000 people line the 3.35 kilometre route through the heart of Adelaide. 2007 marks the pageant's 75th anniversary; Hats off to 75 years of magic. Come along, celebrate and participate.

Classic Adelaide - Road Rally Car Event
21 November - 25 November 2007

This event is run in the style and tradition of the Monte-Carlo Rally and the Mille Miglia in Italy. Adelaide attracts entries nationally and from around the world of pre 1970 sports cars. This event offers a unique opportunity to participate or view priceless vehicles travelling on Adelaide streets and country roads.

All British Day – Motoring Display Day

All British Day – Motoring Display DayIn its 24th year, the day provides a spectacular collection of over 700 British cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles displayed in a picnic atmosphere at the Uraidla Oval. Other activities include trade displays, stalls, crafts displays and a children’s zoo. Catering is available, and public admission is from 11 am.

Clipsal 500 Adelaide - Touring Car Racing Event
Clipsal 500 will be held on 21-24 Febraury 2008Adelaide 500 Images by Maxwell

The Clipsal 500 is the first event on the Shell Championship Series for V8 Supercars and is conducted over two very fast 250 km legs over a Saturday and a Sunday in There are also displays from The Defence forces, featuring a sensational Air Display, plus military bands and static ground displays.

Womadelaide - International Music Festival
Womadelaide will be held in 7-9 March 2008 in Adelaide.

WOMAD stands for the World of Music, Arts & Dance.
Over three days, WOMADelaide runs six outdoor stages featuring performances and intimate workshops by around 35 groups from over 20 countries. It also presents a KidZone, visual arts and street theatre programs, and an amazing Global Village of 100 arts, crafts, international cuisine and educational display stalls and three bars.

Adelaide Cup Carnival - Horse Racing Event
to be held on 10 March 2008

Each year Adelaide comes alive with race fever for the Smoke Free
Adelaide Cup Carnival. Staged at the Morphettville Racecourse.
The carnival attracts both local and interstate visitors and racing identities, and also offers great food and fashion, and a tremendous atmosphere.
The carnival reaches its peak on Monday May 21st with the running of the Smoke - Free Adelaide Cup, run on a locally recognised public holiday.

Tour Down Under 2008

20-27 January 2008

The 2008 Tour Down Under will be a special 10th anniversary event, with new race routes and racing across two weekends. And for the first time in six years, the Tour return to coastal Glenelg. The Tour Down Under attracts the world's cycling elite to South Australia annually to battle for glory in Australia's premier international cycling race.

If you're a keen cyclist yourself, don't miss the Mutual Community Challenge Tour on Friday 25 January. You can pedal the same 134 kilometre route between Mannum and Strathalbyn as the world's elite cyclists in Stage 4 of the Tour. A shorter race option of 73.5 kilometres from Woodside to Strathalbyn is also available for those seeking a more leisurely ride.
